Historical Sightseeing Adventures

Grab your shovel, dust off your guide book and plan to uncover lands of the past when you go traveling historic sites. For many folks, getting a glimpse in times past is the perfect getaway. When you go on an historical adventure you can walk where Egyptian Pharaohs walked, hold the key to George Washington’s cabin in your hand or visit the Ireland of the potato famine.

Ancient History

Go back to the beginning of time when you plan your adventure in Egypt. Visit the tombs of the Pharaohs, see the Great Pyramids and peer in awe at the magnificent limstone Sphinx. The desert sand has given up much of its treasures, but much more lies beneath waiting for the amateur archeologist to find.

Greece is the land of myths and legends. Home to gods and goddesses, there are scads of ruins to explore that offer glimmers of a time past when the gods were worshipped. It is also a melting pot of ancient ruins. Lost cultures of the Ottomans, the Crusaders, and the Venetians are just a few of the cultures you can discover while exploring Greece. There are many other places rich in ancient history, as well. Israel lies at the heart of the Holy Land and draws Christians, Muslims and Jews, alike. Ireland, on the other hand, is steeped in fairy myths and pagan spiritual ruins dot the countryside.

Middle Ages

Nothing beats Great Britain for castles and kingdoms. England has towering buildings that have stood for centuries. The Tower of London, wonderful museums and cobblestone streets first laid by the Romans, invite you to ramble the narrow, historic alleyways. Scotland, Ireland and Wales offer a glimpse into the Medieval and Victorian era.

American History

You could pretty much pick any region of the United States and be able to spend a vacation surrounding your exploration of the key historical sites. Go to California and experience what life was like when the Spanish ruled. Texas has a history all its own with places to visit like the Alamo. Up and down the East Coast you can rediscover the Civil War, first hand, through various popular battlefield tours. Step up on Plymouth Rock, as did the first pilgrims, or spend a week in Williamsburg- a true step back in time to Colonial America, complete with authentic costumes.
