Winter Adventures

Cold brisk air, snow and ice often make for awesome winter adventure. If you enjoy the cold weather then this type of travel will be perfect for you. The hard part is deciding what to do.

Winter Racing

If you enjoy competing there are numerous places that hold winter competitions. Montana has an annual Race to the Sky dog sled competition that can be grueling. Or you can head on up to Northstar-at-Tahoe for their annual Big Blue Winter Adventure Race. Several sports are open for competition including snowshoeing, orienteering and skiing.

Sledding and Skating

Lots of opportunities for fun for those who enjoy ice skating and riding on a sled or sleigh can be found across the country. Experienced dog sledders might head up to Canada for the A.K.K.O dog sled race. Spirit of the North Sledding also provides sledding opportunities, but in the beautiful countryside of Alaska.

If you like sledding but at a more sedate pace than on one tethered to a pack of trained dogs flying across the tundr, then you might try visiting Vermont. Several areas offer cozy sled rides, along with delightful places to stay. You can also enjoy cross-country skiing in many of the New England states. In Colorado you can sleigh ride, dogsled and snow shoe across some of the most beautiful landscapes in the United States.

Skiing and Snowboarding

There are lots of great places to ski. Vale Ski Resort has the reputation of being number one in the states. Skiing for all levels and world class competition takes place here too The West offers great skiing and snowboarding. Jackson Hole, Wyoming is a wonderful place to take the whole family on a winter ski adventure.

If getting up is half the challenge, going down is most of the fun. And in The Canyons, Utah you go down fast!.

International Adventures

For those who would like to go abroad for skiing and snowboarding fun there are guided tours. France, Italy and Switzerland all have wonderful places to visit, in fact some of the best skiing is found in these countries. Do not forget to check out areas such as South American and other parts of Europe. It is always winter somewhere in the world.
