Cycling Adventures

Bicycling or motorcycling is another great way to travel when you want to experience nature first hand, but are not an avid hiker. Biking allows you to cover more territory in a shorter time and can be lots of fun. Here are some great places to explore on a bike.

The United States

The United States is the perfect place to explore by bike. Many towns have roads and bike trails set up for just such exploration. You can literally start at one side of the continent and cycle your way across America. There are many destinations that are perfect for day trips, as well, such as the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Many state parks have extensive biking trails, along with detailed maps that highlight sights and attractions along the way and post distances and elevations.

Do You Speak Spanish?

Do you speak Spanish, by chance, or some type of it, such as Portuguese? Then you may want to give your bike a tune up and take it to destinations more south, such as Chile. Many travel agencies offer package tours to Chile and report that the Lake Region of Patagonia is particularly popular with cyclists.

Then there is Costa Rica. Costa Rica is a perfect place for a family biking adventure trip. You can bike through Tapanti Biological Reserve, but plan on lots of stops to look at the unique wildlife, along with the colorful native plants. At the end of the day you can soak those sore muscles in the local hot springs.

Ireland and all of Europe remain great places to adventure by bike. Many of the locals still travel this way everyday. Islands that cater to tourists are ideal for biking and often cycling is the only mode of transportation available, anyway, outside of walking.

Motorcycling

Bicycles are not the only way to travel on a two-wheeler adventure. Motorcycles are favored by quite a few adventure types. Any place that has roads should work just fine for touring motorcycles. There are road rallies and all kinds of special biker events across the country geared specifically for motorcyclists.
